Asian BBQ Sauce

We used this Asian Style BBQ sauce to make our Asian Style Baby Back Ribs
  • 2 Tablespoons canola oil
  • 4 Cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 Habanero finely chopped
  • 4 inch’s of fresh ginger root peeled and chopped
  • 1 Large onion diced small
  • 3 Cups of pineapple
  • 1/4 Cup of ketchup
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice
  • 2 Cups of hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cups of brown sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons ancho chile powder
  • 2 large tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons of honey
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 Teaspoons ground star anise
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Heat the oil on the stove top over medium high heat. Cook the onions, garlic and ginger until they began to get soft.
  2. Add in the pineapple and habanero and pineapple juice until is starts to caramelize a bit. Then add in the rest of the ingredients and cook until its thickened about 20 minutes,
  3. Then take the mixture and put it in the blender and blend until its nice and smooth
